New Denim Jean Care and Tips

I was recently out with my girlfriends, and one of them was wearing a new pair of dark denim jeans. At dinner, she showed us her hands, and they looked blue. It didn’t take long to figure out her jeans had bled all over her hands. I shared with them a tip I learned many years ago from my friends at Nordstrom.

Before wearing your new denim or hanging them in your closet, set the dye on them. This easy process will prevent your jeans from bleeding on you or anything else you don’t want stained.

  • Wash Inside Out
  • Use Cold Water
  • 1/2 Cup White Vinegar – NO Detergent! This is the Vinegar I use.
  • Dry 20-30 Minutes in the dryer on Low Heat or Hang Dry.

It’s as easy as that! The vinegar sets the dye and it will help prevent bleeding. As you get your new denim jeans for Christmas, don’t forget to try this out.
