Shampoo Less, Train Your Hair

Have you wanted to start shampooing your hair less? Chances are you may be shampooing too often. I used to wash my hair daily and sometimes twice a day. Now I only wash my hair with shampoo every two or three days. It did take a few months to train my hair. Here are a few tips if you want to stretch out the days in between your shampoos.

  • Start out slow. If you wash your hair daily, try to go every other day for a few weeks. Once your hair adjusts to your new hair routine, try to go every third day. Make sure to use a good shampoo that doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients. It is hard to find a good shampoo that isn’t full of crap, so if you know of one, let us know in the comments below.
  • In between shampoos don’t be afraid to just rinse your hair with warm water. If you have curly or coarse hair make sure to add conditioner to the ends
  • On day two and three pull your hair up into ponytail or updo.
  • Brush your hair a lot; this will help even out the oil.

Cutting back on shampoo can make your hair softer and healthier. You also are reducing your exposure to harmful chemicals; you’ll have less frizz and better color retention.
